Dear Editor,
How many people are aware of the infrasound caused by industrial wind turbines? Pattern Energy negates the issues of infrasound, along with shadow flicker, noise pollution and other health concerns.
Please read this Substack article by Frank Jabonski that you can find at https://frankj47.substack.com/p/aproblem-with-wind-energy. Wisconsin has a problem and our PSC and Wind Siting Council are not protecting our resident’s health. When you read the article, you will note there are 2 instances in Wisconsin listed already and you can bet there will be more if Pattern Energy has their way. We need to make sure that the PSC hears from everyone that we have outdated setbacks for these larger industrial wind turbines.
The US Department of Energy, Berkeley Lab research in 2023, recommended a setback of ~4250′ for these new larger industrial wind turbines. WI PSC 128 states 1250′ which is not enough and has not been updated for 12 years. This is unacceptable! Pattern Energy needs to do the right thing (morally and ethically) for the residents of Iowa and Lafayette counties and use this set back and not the one in PSC 128.
This project needs to be stopped until proper setbacks from homes and Yellowstone State park are established. The residents of our area are entitled to their own health and welfare. Have you seen the map of Uplands Wind East? There is an interactive map available on No-uplands. Com
Look it up to see how close a 650′ industrial wind turbine will be to your front door. Please see NoUplands.com for more information.
