
AVA WIEGEL, a former Argyle High School athlete, appeared in three of four games for the Beloit College softball team last week. Wiegel, a freshman C/1B, had two hits in eight total trips to the plate for the Buccaneers. Both hits came against Carroll University; a single in the first game followed by a pinch-hit double in the second contest. The Buccaneers fell to the Pioneers 7-4 in both games. Beloit (2-20, 0-0) plays at Elmhurst University (Ill) on Wednesday and Monmouth College (III) on Saturday.

ANNA TISCH, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, helped the University of Mary (ND) women’s track team to a win last Saturday. Tisch, a sophomore multi-event athlete, contributed 16 points to the team total as the Marauders won the Dave Coppack Yellowstone Open in Billings, MT. She ran the third leg of the 4×400 relay which placed first with a time of 3:57.91. Tisch also finished third in the 400m hurdles after crossing the finish line in 1:04.17. The Marauders dominated the seven-team meet, winning eight events en route to 221 points. UMary hosts the Al Borke Open on Friday and Saturday at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

ELIJAH KNUTSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, helped the Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) baseball team to a win Monday afternoon. Knutson, a 5-10 sophomore catcher, knocked a pair of singles in a 7-6 win over St. Norbert College. One hit resulted in Knutson coming around to score while the other pushed a run across the plate. WLC (6-13, 2-4) travels to Montgomery, Ill., on Saturday to play Aurora University. A former area athlete who participated for his respective team last week, but did not record any statistics, or statistics were not available included Jameson Johnson (PHS) Rock Valley College baseball.
