Bob was born on July 26, 1943, in Indiana to Robert & Hannah (Giles) McCrary, Sr. He grew up with an outgoing nature that would remain with him throughout his life. Bob graduated from Center Grove High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force for four years, including time stationed in Germany.
Following his honorable discharge, Bob built a career that included positions with Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals, FISH building supplies, carpentry projects around the Darlington area with his former father-in-law Glen Jackson, Purity Cheese, and then found his calling at PDC Electrical Supply in Monroe where he eventually retired. He was a man who believed in doing his work well and letting his actions speak for themselves.
Bob was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #214 in Darlington, the Wiota Fire Department, and was secretary/treasurer for the Wisconsin Fire Chief’s association for many years. He was also a Wiota First responder and EMT in the 70-80s. Those who knew Bob knew you could always count on him for a good laugh.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed the simple things in life. He liked bowling, playing horseshoes, and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed his westerns and old movies.
Bob is survived by his children, Theresa (Kevin) Moen of Blanchardville, Wisconsin, and Thomas McCrary of Madison, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Jodi, Wade, Anna, Chaz, and Daniel; ten great-grandchildren; his brother, Pat McCrary of Largo, Florida; the mother of his children, Kay McCrary of Monroe; and his longtime special friend, Pat Scheffner. He was preceded in death by his parents.
