Heidi Ganshert is a veteran when it comes to coaching Argyle softball. She has been a fixture and as a longtime coach Ganshert has had a hand in developing talented players and strong teams.

The combined team of Argyle and Blackhawk finished the 2025 season 8-18 but sees 2026 as a year of improvement and more wins.

The co-op will be working on replacing three top players, namely: -Maddy Lange: Starting utility player for the last 2 years-2-year all conference selection

A/BH will have some of the top players in the conference returning.

Ganshert says there are some talented players entering the program and she is interested in seeing how they progress.

Ganshert says the A/BH have set their goals for the season.

“As always, our expectations are that we improve throughout the season, play together as a team, and compete in every game we play,” she said.

Experience will help mold the team A/BH will become this season the coach feels.

“We have a lot of returning players who have a tremendous knowledge of the game, and that should work to our benefit,” Ganshert said. “I look for strong pitching performances from Brynn Harris, Kylie Butler, and Lexi Wonders, as well as a strong fielding performance from many of our upperclassmen and returning players.”

Ganshert sees two areas that will receive extra attention to assure they are at the top of their game.

“Batting will always remain an

area of improvement because I believe it can always be improved upon,” she said. “We also need to button up some decision-making that leads to errors in the field. Our season is short, and we pack in a lot of games, so we need to work on our mental toughness as well in order get some wins on the weeks that we may have four or five games.”

Ganshert sees the overall power in the conference as creating more balanced making it difficult to pick a true favorite.

“I believe we have one of the strongest softball conferences in our division, in the state,” Ganshert said .. “We have a pool of incredible coaches who work really hard to put the best team possible on the field. The great thing about this sport is that anyone can step onto the field any night and pull off a win; making it hard to pick the top teams. We are also Rivers West, so all of our games count towards a conference championship.”
