Barneveld golf team hosts and wins its first WIAA Regional, Argyle/Pec fourth to advance to WIAA Sectional

Barneveld’s golf team hosted and won the WIAA Regional by nine strokes shooting a score of 326 Tuesday at Deer Valley Golf Club. Hillsboro/Royall placed second at 337, Darlington and Argyle/Pec shot 357 and 367, respectively, and all four teams will advance to the WIAA Sectional next week at Trempealeau Mountain in Cochrane-Fountain City.

Judson Poad was medalist for the day firing a three-over-par 75 to lead Barneveld to its first Regional title in its history. Argyle/Pec snuck into the sectional at fourth place, two strokes ahead of Pardeeville, and they had to do it without their number one player, Avari Steiner, who hadn’t been feeling well coming into the tournament and was forced to withdraw after eight holes and four-over-par at the time. Caleb McKenna led AP with an 86.

Regarding his team, Wood added, “Noah Doescher and Will Pechan had solid rounds of 82 and 81 respectively. Colton Christensen bounced back on the back nine after a tough start on the front with an 88. And Levi Schmid played a consistent solid round of 89 right where he needs to be for his team. This group is not done. They are looking at their goal next week in sectionals. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going!”
