The Argyle School District will begin their 2026-2027 school year on September 1. This year the district is welcoming five new teachers, Andrea Staver, Amanda Leonard, Dawson Jacobus, Curt Stelzewmaski, and Maggie Godfrey.
Andrea Staver
Andrea Staver will be teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade Special Education.
She grew up in Cuba City but has lived in Shullsburg for the last 42 years. She graduated from UW- Platteville with a BS in Elementary Education PK-6th and she has an add on license Birth to 8 years in Special Education from UW-Whitewater. She has over 30 years of teaching experience.
The person that influenced her to become a teacher was her dad. He was the band and choral teacher in Cuba City. She saw the difference he made in the students he taught.
She is married to Steve Staver and has two daughters and a stepdaughter. One daughter and stepdaughter are teachers. She also has six grandchildren. Her hobbies include UTV riding and watching her grandchildren in all their sporting events.
Mrs. Staver is looking looking forward to meeting new faces and bringing her experiences to strengthening the students skills.
Amanda Leonard
Amanda Leonard will be teaching High School Math.
She grew up in Whitelaw but has lived around Mineral Point for the past 12 years. She graduated from UW-Platteville and this will be her 7th year teaching.
Her high school history teachersspecifically her World History and U.S. History teachers-had a profound impact on her decision to teach. While she might not recall every single date or curriculum detail from those classes, she vividly remembers how valued and supported they made her feel. They took the time to figure out what mattered to the students as individuals and consistently showed up for them. That experienced taught her that teaching is about connection first and content second. She has wanted to become an educator to give students that exact same sense of belonging and confidence.
She is married to her husband Jared, and has a daughter, Sylvia. Her hobbies include kayaking, reading, cooking, and swimming.
Mrs. Leonard is looking forward to two main goals: building strong, supportive connections with her students and making the curriculum immediately relevant. Her goal is to bring real-world context into every unit so students see the practical value in what they’re learning. Creating a classroom culture rooted in personal connection and realworld application is what drives her teaching.
Dawson Jacobus
Dawson Jacobus will be teaching Spanish and Physical Education.
He is from Hastings, Nebraska but was born in Madison, Wis. He went to school at Nebraska Wesleyan University. This will be his second year teaching.
He had several teachers that influenced him to become a teacher. To name one, he would say his former anatomy teacher he had named Mr. Yazgerdi influenced him the most.
His parents live in Belmont and he has a brother who lives in Dubuque, Iowa. His hobbies include coaching football, exercising, golfing, watching Wisconsin sports, and hanging out with his dog.
Mr. Jacobus is looking forward to being in a school with a smaller community and meeting those individuals within the community.
Curt Stelzewmaski Curt Stelzewmaski will be teaching in Special Education.
He is from Superior and went to UW-Superior. He has over 30 years of teaching experience.
His elementary teachers were a big influence on why he became a teacher.
His family includes his wife, son and grandson. His hobbies include golfing, walking, and reading.
Mr. Stelzewmaski is looking forward to seeing his students having fun and succeeding each day.
Maggie Godfrey
Maggie Godfrey will be teaching Middle School Science (6-8) and Social Studies (8th).
She is from Argyle and went to school at Argyle, graduating in the class of 2022. She recently graduated in May from UW-Platteville with a major in Elementary Education. This will be her first year teaching.
She would say her biggest influence to become a teacher are her family and her boyfriend – Brady Buol. She has had the best support from her family and significant other. They have kept her motivated and excited about this new path she is starting. Other influences in her life would be her former teachers from Argyle. Some of the teachers she had during her time at Argyle are now her coworkers. She is excited to join the team and work alongside those that taught her.
Her parents are Mike and Michelle Godfrey and her siblings are Morgan Flannery (Derek), Miken and Max along with their dog Tito. Her hobbies include coaching JV volleyball and as an assistant coach for Varsity at Argyle. She also plays summer league sand volleyball and indoor winter league volleyball. She enjoys officiating youth sports year round, hiking, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Ms. Godfrey is looking forward to starting her teaching career in her hometown, and giving back to the community that provided her so many opportunities. She also looks forward to building great relationships with her colleagues and students!
