Argyle School Board Budget adjustments approved

At the Argyle School Board meeting on August 12, the board approved budget adjustments to this year’s budget which gave the district a profit of over $122,000, over $68,000 more than was projected.

Megan Leonard, Business Manager for the district, told the board that the district officially ended up with an additional $197,965 profit this year but with the $75,000 transfer into Fund 46 the ending balance was $125,000. Leonard had projected a profit of $53,263 for the end of the year.

Adjustments that were made was an increase of $67,430 in Fund 10 (General Fund) revenues. Expenses were down $49,761 from the projected $5,482,104 to $5,432,343. For Fund 27, there was an increase in special education funding from the state and a resignation in the middle of the school year which gave the district an increase of $23,308; that much less they would need to transfer into the fund.

The district is welcoming five new staff members, Amanda Leonard – High School Math, Andrea Staver – Elementary Special Education, Curtis Stelmaszewski – High School Social Studies, Dawson Jacobus – High School Spanish, MS Health/Physical Education and Elementary Physical Education, and Justin Blackburn – High School Business Education, transitioning from Math.

Open house will be August 27 from 4-6 p.m. The first day of school is September 1. Homecoming will be October 3.

All of the summer projects have been completed.

The football co-op with Pecatonica for the 2027-2029 season will be approved in September.

Alternative open enrollment had five coming in and one going out.

The board approved: – Amelia Burkhalter, Jasmine Neff and Hailey Vance as para professionals. – Amy Webster as cheerleading coach.

– resignations of Carmen Montgomery as Business Education Teacher and Tina Gerber as para professional.

– Prairie Farms for milk and Bimbo Bakery for bread.

– donations: $100 from the Pecatonica Alumni Association for the Argyle/Pec Golf Team – 2026-2027 Employee Handbook.
