Wisconsin is home to some 50 orchid species. Most are showy, and have interesting flower shapes and colors. All should be respected, admired, maybe photographed, and never transplanted because they have specific needs that are difficult to mimic, understand. and even know about. Yellow lady’s-slipper orchid and showy orchis, purple-white, are now in flower in their woodland habitats. Admire them during their blooming times and never disturb them at any season.
