Disc golfing for a cause

Photos by Cassie Colson Perenchio for the Pecatonica Valley Leader Discs were flying and the energy was high during The Ace Chase to Build the Place singles disc golf tournament on Sunday, May 3 in Mckellar Park in Blanchardville. The event, hosted by the Mckellar Park Disc Golf Club, was a fundraiser for Friends of Mckellar Park, Inc.’s efforts to build a bathhouse for the swim pond, along with some funds also going to support the disc golf course. About 35 people came out to play on the course, which winds through upper and lower Mckellar Park, with one hole in the sand of the swim pond.

Amanda Marek of Madison said she wanted to enjoy time with friends during her trip to Blanchardville for the event.

Golfers sometimes carry dozens of discs to ensure they have enough to complete the course.
