ANNA TISCH, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, raced to a new personal best for the University of Mary (ND) women’s track team last week.
Tisch, a sophomore sprinter/hurdler, clocked a time of 1:02.16 in the 400m hurdles to finish 16th at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate on the campus of Long Beach State University Calif.
The time is over a full second faster than her previous benchmark, and ranks her 55th in NCAA Division II.
She also competed in the same event at the highly competitive Brian Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., where she placed 25th out of 41 with a time of 1:02.74.
UMary is at the University of Minnesota on Wednesday for the Gary Wilson
Invite and will host the UMary Senior Day Open on Sunday.
JAMESON JOHNSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, had a pair of multiple-hit games for the Rock Valley College (Ill) baseball team last week.
Johnson, a 6-foot 2-inch sophomore UTL, parlayed five total hits and eight walks into three runs scored and seven RBI.
Four of his five hits were for extra bases; a home run and three doubles.
The Golden Eagles took two from Waubonsee Community College (III) and three of four from John Wood Community College (Ill).
RVC (23-12) is at Oakton College (Ill) on Thursday before hosting Black Hawk College-Moline (III) and Kankakee Community College (III) on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
AVA WIEGEL, a former Argyle High School athlete, played in two games for the Beloit College softball team last week.
Wiegel, a freshman C/1B, scored a run in each game; a 13-6 loss to Grinnell College (Ia) and a 17-8 loss to Cornell College (Ia).
She walked and scored in the second inning against the Pioneers, then slapped a two-run double in the fourth inning against the Rams.
Wiegel would score on a single one batter later that would turn out to be the final run for the Buccaneers.
Beloit (3-31, 1-9) hosts Lake Forest College (III) on Saturday before traveling to Ripon College on Sunday.
