From PREP to College Report

JAMESON JOHNSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, played in one game for the Rock Valley College (III) baseball team last week. Johnson, a 6-2 sophomore UTL, and the Golden Eagles were in Madison for two games against Madison College, but only the game last Friday was played. Johnson batted 2-for-4 with a run scored in an 11-1 loss to the Wolf- Pack. He led off the seventh inning with a double and scored to ruin the shutout one batter later. It was the only extra base hit the Golden Eagles collected against the WolfPack. RVC (13-8) hosts Bryant & Stratton College on Wednesday before hitting the road for games at McHenry County College (III), Harper College (III), and South Suburban College (ill) on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively.

ELIJAH KNUTSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, was part of a win for the Wisconsin Lutheran baseball team last week. Knutson, a 5-10 sophomore catcher, was the team’s designated hitter in a 7-6 over St. Norbert College. He batted 2-for-4 with a run batted in (RBI) against the Green Knights. Knutson singled in the fourth and sixth innings, with the first hit forcing across the sixth run for the Warriors. WLC (6-15, 2-6) plays at Illinois Institute of Technology, Maranatha Baptist, and Milwaukee School of Engineering this week with a home doubleheader against Rockford University (Ill) on Saturday.

AVA WIEGEL, a former Argyle High School athlete, made two pinch hit appearances for the Beloit College softball team last week. Wiegel, a freshman catcher, appeared in each game against the Scots from Monmouth College (III). She drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to give the Buccaneers a brief 9- 7 lead in game one. In the second contest, she struck out on five pitches to end the game. The Scots downed the Buccaneers 13-12 and 7-2, respectively. Belot (2-22, 0-2) hosts Illinois College on Saturday and Knox College (III) on Sunday.
