The Iowa County Family History Contest for 2026 may give two high school winners a prize of $500 each, sponsored by the Iowa County Historical Society.
In observance in the year of the society’s 50th Anniversary, it is open to any current high school Senior residing in Iowa County, Wisconsin.
They are to submit an essay of up to 1000 words detailing their family history. This should include information about residency, employment, military service, public offices held, and other accomplishments of the student’s family of previous generations,
Two scholarships of $500 will be awarded on quality of the writing and on facts of the family story.
Essays would be due to the Iowa County Historical Society at Box 44 Dodgeville, WI 53533 by May 30, 2026.
The two winners will be awarded scholarships at the Dodgeville Town Square Local History Day on July 16, 2026.
