Hittesdorf claims mound match-up as Vikings win

Pecatonica hurler Sam Hittesdorf and Argyle/Blackhawk ace Brynne Harris proved how much of an impact good pitching can have on a softball game.

Hittesdorf won the duel as the Vikings were able to pull out a 3-1 win in the Six Rivers softball game Thursday.

Maddie Meddaugh, Lila Schlimgen, and Kiaya York, at the bottom of Pecatonica’s lineup, combined for four of the team’s eight hits in their victory.

The Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Katelynne Jorenby doubled down the left field line, and the Vikings scored on a passed ball for two runs.

Hittesdorf surrendered six hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking none.

Harris gave up eight hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

Kiaya York accunted for three hits in three at bats for Pec. Brooklyn Johnsrud and Jorenby each drove in one run for thr Vikings. Tatum Kurschner collected two hits for Pecatonica in three at bats.

Harris and Lexi Wonders each collected two hits for ABH. Adrionna Ubersox and Kylie Butler both had one hit.
