To bring more attention to libraries and what they have to offer, the Lafayette County Librarians would like to introduce you to all of the librarians in the county. Each of the eight public librarian directors in Lafayette County will answer a short Q&A to introduce themselves to everyone.

What library are you the director of? Johnson Public Library (Darlington)

How long have you been the director? Since June 2025

Tell us about something special in your library collection? We have a few special collections: We have an Ervin Johnson Collection, of his favorite books. Ervin and Phylis Johnson is the family that generously funded our current library. We also have a Cornish Collection and a special selection of Book Clubs for easy access to Jenna, Reese, Oprah and GMA’s picks!

Do you have a favorite library memory? When we went on a bear hunt!

What do you wish people knew about Lafayette County Libraries? We are not just books, we have many other items like games, puzzles, technology, movies and of course books!

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about libraries? We are a busy place, not only with books but with daily activities, programs and staying engaged with our community!

Whats something you have coming up on the calendar? We have many author talks coming up this spring. Jeff Rich, Ray McKoski, Nikolas Butler, and coauthers: Jessica Aasve and Ashley Arn.

Favorite book or genre? The Forest of Vanishing Stars by Kristin Harmel, or historical fiction.
