Meet the Lafayette Librarians: Sarah Kyrie

Sarah Kyrie Sarah Kyrie

To bring more attention to libraries and what they have to offer, the Lafayette County Librarians would like to introduce you to all of the librarians in the county. Each of the eight public librarian directors in Lafayette County will answer a short Q&A to introduce themselves to everyone.

The next librarian is Sarah Kyrie who is the library director at the Blanchardville Public Library.

Name: Sarah Kyrie

What library are you the director of? Blanchardville (& Argyle Interim Director)

How long have you been the director? I was at Argyle Public Library since 2013; Blanchardville Public Library since 2024

Tell us about something special in your library collection? Beyond our amazing collection of books, we have pickleball equipment, disc golf, board games, State Parks passes, sensory toys and much more.

Do you have a favorite library memory? The very first time that toddlers have the language to refer to me as “Ms. Sarah” at story time always warms my heart.

What do you wish people knew about Lafayette County Libraries? Taxes can be awesome! Look at all the amazing things your tax money supports at the library!

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about libraries? Libraries are truly a cradle-to-the-grave service. Everything at the library is always free and everyone is invited. I feel fortunate to get to work with babies, teenagers, elders, and everyone in between.

What’s something you have coming up on the calendar? All libraries host summer programs and reading incentives to keep kids engaged all summer long. In Blanchardville, we will have programs each Monday and Friday, 1 p.m. at Mckellar Park Upper shelter.

Favorite book or genre? I read a TON and very broadly. I consider having so many books at my disposal a job perk! There is a perfect book for every reader, and I’d be happy to help you find it.
