Rockies go deep twice to top Cardinals

Two run home runs from Reese Peterson and Trenton Owens helped the Rockies trip the Cardinals 11-7 in a Western Section match-up Sunday.

Peterson’s blast ended the scoring for Hollandale when he reached the fences in the eighth, sending in Owens who had walked. He went 3×4 on the day.

Owens hit his bomb in the fifth. Jackson Wendler singled to open the frame and set up Owens’ blast.

Hollandale scored three in the first, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in both the sixth and eighth.

Wendler was 2×4 with a double. Other Rockies hits came from Trey Gordon, Luke Kelly, Brennan Keyes and Ty Thousand.

Tanler Ames was on the mound for the Rockies.

Ridgeway scored its first run in the fourth on a single by Miles Rolli and an error. They added two in the sixth, one in the seventh and three in the ninth.

Rolli led the Cardinals with a 3×4 day at the plate that included a double and two runs scored.

Also getting hits for the Cardinals were Ayden Halverson, Adam Cody, Brylen Lee, Drake McVay and Wyatt Peat.

Halverson handled mound duties for Ridgeway.
