Seek out church this Sunday

When our ancestors came to this country, the first buildings built were their homes and barns. Next came the school, the cheese factory and the local church. These buildings were the foundation for a community. In recent years, we have seen small cheese factories close. Small schools are consolidating or closing. Churches have closed their doors.

Our local churches provide a place where we can learn how to live our lives in community so when our earthly journey is done, we can spend eternity in heaven with Jesus. The phrase “weeping and gnashing of teeth” appears seven times in the New Testament, and is used by Jesus to describe the final judgement and exclusion from the Kingdom of God. Eternity is a long time.

As you ponder this, I hope you choose to attend worship on Sunday … while the doors are still open.
