Warbirds edged by Shullsburg/Benton

Argyle/Black Hawk battled but came up short in the offensive department in a 6-2 loss to Shullsburg/Benton Thursday.

The game was a Six Rivers East test. The first Warbirds run scored in the sixth. Mitchell Johnsen grounded into a fielders choice and scored on a single by Jackson Berget. They added a run in the seventh when Ole Isely reached on error and scored on a hit by Max Soper.

Berget, Soper and Trent Bidlingmeier had the three Warbirds hits.

The Warbirds used two on the mound. Berget went three frames, gave up one hit, two runs, walked two and struck out two. Johnsen went four innings, giving up six hits, four runs (two earned) while walking one and striking out three.

Shullsburg/Benton scored single runs in the first, third and seventh, icing it with a three run fifth. They had seven hits and their two pitchers combined to strike out 11.
